The Kingdom Of God pt1

The kingdom of God is a real kingdom. Not only is the kingdom of God real, it’s also superior to all other kingdoms. For instance the Psalmist writes Psalms 103:19 “The Lord has prepared his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom ruleth over all” There are some attributes about the kingdom of God I would like to highlight that I think you’ll find to be beneficial once you’ve been made aware of them. These attributes come in four main categories

  1. The first attribute I would like to highlight is that the kingdom of God is a mystery. A mystery is something that cannot be known by research or by the natural mind, it can only be known by revelation. In the gospel of Matthew 13:11 it’s written “It is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven” The Holy Spirit is the one that opens the eyes of our understanding and makes real to us the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. Without the Holy Spirit opening our understanding it not possible to understand the things of God. It is written in 1 Corinthians 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them , because they are spiritually discerned”

  2. The second attribute I would like to highlight is that the kingdom of God is hid. It requires us to ask, seek and to knock in order for the things of the kingdom to be revealed. It’s written in Proverbs 25:2 “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honour of kings is to search out a matter” It’s our duty to search out the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. Luke 13:20-21 is written “Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God? It is like leaven which a woman took and hid in the three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened”

  3. The third attribute I would like to to highlight is that the kingdom of God grows, it’s organic. There a number examples in the scriptures describing the organic nature of the kingdom. Luke 13:18-19 “Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? It is like a grain of mustard of mustard seed, which a man took and cast into his garden, and it grew, and waxed great tree, and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it”

  4. The fourth attribute I would like to highlight is that the kingdom of God is to be manifested. The gospel of Luke 10:9 states “and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. It is the by the demonstration of Gods power in healing the sick and casting out devils that the rule and dominion of Gods kingdom in manifested. Again in Luke 11:20 is states “But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come unto you.

So to conclude this series, the kingdom of God is a mystery, it’s hid, it grows, and is then manifested. Understanding these main attributes of the kingdom of God, what it is like, and what it resembles will aid your walk in the path of Spiritual understanding.
